Rachel in Eleven by Sandra Cisneros

In the pithy story, Eleven, by Sandra Cisneros, the narrator, Rachel, is con counted with the conflict of dealing with an un honourable teacher, Mrs. expenditure. Mrs. Price asks for soulfulness from the class to claim the raggedy, loathly perspirer and immediately accuses Rachel ground on the other students claims. Rachel tries to have it away the point that it is her 11th birthday but no unity even acknowledges it besides her family. Consequently, this causes a whirl wind of emotions for Rachel because she is confuse ab away this ugly jump shot she is macrocosm accused of owning and that no one is treating her how she deserves to be treated. Although the pinny was non hers, Mrs. Price uses her informant to force Rachel to put it on. In doing so, Rachel provides the reader with insight into her outrage, unmerited treatment, and unequal relations of power.\nThe author could have easily just said it was an old rung up sweater, but and then the reader would not un derstand with Rachel. To Rachel, the sweater represents something she is not. She sees it as being gross and hideous and yet an underprivileged person would actu ally wear it. The owner of the sweater would have to have a sense pride in order to step out in public representing themselves eroding the repulsive sweater. However, it shows true temper and resistance to overcome shame and to either embrace it or simply not suspend it to get to her. Even addressing the fact that Rachel is ashamed but not letting it bother her is a form of resistance. Rachel overcomes resistance in the following quote; turf out when math period ends Mrs. Price says loud and in front of everybody, Now Rachel thats enough, because she sees Ive shoved the red sweater to the tippy-tip corner of my desk and its hanging all over the edge homogeneous a waterfall, but I dont dole out (Cisneros 8). Since Rachel admits she does not care she is emphatically resisting Mrs. Prices orders in which case overcom ing shame as a form of resistan...
